Ireland End to End: Day 8 – The Long Haul to Nairn
Join us for the penultimate day of our incredible cycling adventure across Ireland. Day 8 brought new challenges, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable moments as we pushed our limits.

A day of endurance and stunning views
Day 8 marked our longest and toughest day on the tour so far. We cycled a remarkable 76 miles with a total elevation gain of 1420 metres. Every pedal stroke was a testament to our determination, as we navigated through varied terrain and experienced the true beauty of Ireland's landscapes. This stage truly tested our endurance, but the rewards were immeasurable.

Following the North West Trail
Our journey on Day 8 took us along the magnificent Sustrans 'North West Trail', stretching from Sligo to the truly gorgeous setting of Nairn and Portnoo. We passed through charming seaside villages, enjoyed the quiet solitude of lovely back roads, and even had the unique experience of a short ride directly on the beach. Each turn revealed a new vista, making the challenging mileage all the more rewarding.

From mountains to sandy shores
The absolute best part of Day 8 was cycling through dainty Donegal. The landscape dramatically shifted as we climbed into the hills and mountains, only to descend later towards stunning white sandy beaches. This stark contrast in scenery, from rugged peaks to serene coastlines, made for an unforgettable cycling experience. The unexpected beauty of Donegal's diverse terrain was a true highlight of our long day.
