Ireland End to End: Day 9 – The finish line

We made it but only thanks to a major recovery operation by our Peak Tour stars after our ferry was cancelled!!

Our Day started with some magnificent scenery along the Gweebarra river and a steady climb toward Glenveagh National Park

When it all went wrong!

All was going well as we all made our way to catch the ferry over to Buncrana for our final stretch to the finish line. But disaster, the ferry comes in late and is cancelled due to the tides. Peak Tours comes to the rescue with a hastily arranged contingency plan. We go for drinks in Molly's bar, pack our bikes onto the van and a hired coach appears from nowhere to take us to a location 10 miles from Mizen Head.

Bikes unloaded we set about the final 10 mile stretch to Malin Head. The finish was like a mountain stage of the Tour to France with a torturous 18% climb to the finish line, the most northerly point in Ireland

What a trip. 9 days cycling through the wonderful scenery of Ireland with not a spot of rain. We were truly blessed. So many highlights, renewing old acquaintances and establishing new friendships. A big thank you to the Peak Tours team of Mark, Wendy and Becky who made it possible. Wendy looked justly delighted at the end of our epic ride at Malin Head
